Sign Painters

Film

Thursday, July 31, 2014
6:30 – 8:30 pm
Scheuer Auditorium

This 2012 documentary, directed by Faythe Levine and Sam Macon, features interviews with over two dozen sign painters working in cities throughout the United States – from established veterans and teachers to young artists starting shops in San Francisco and New York. Despite the fact that many believe the skills developed by sign-painters have been rendered obsolete by technological innovations, the documentary identifies a growing trend to seek out traditional sign painters and a burgeoning renaissance in the trade. The event will feature a Q&A and book signing with directors Faythe Levine and Sam Macon.

Tickets: General $12 | Students and 65+ $8 | Members $5
