Highlighting The Jewish Museum's unique collection of American art, this exhibition focuses on the first half of the twentieth century, a period of great social change and artistic activity during which Jewish artists played a major role in shaping the direction of American art. Through painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, and photography, My America will present works concerned with Jewish identity and involvement in American culture and politics, and range in style from Social Realism to Abstract Expressionism. Over 75 works by such prominent artists as Theresa Bernstein, Adolph Gottlieb, Jacques Lipchitz, Morris Louis, Elie Nadelman, Ben Shahn, Raphael Soyer, Alfred Stieglitz, and Weegee will be on view.
