Art objects hovering in free space, and evocative texts that materialize as if written by an unseen hand greet visitors to a dramatic, enclosed environment created by artist Shimon Attie, with technical collaborator Norman Ballard. Commissioned for the Museum's centennial and presented in two "chapters" throughout 2004, this new artwork evocatively juxtaposes images from the Museum's collection with fragments of texts that tell the stories of these objects: how they were made, where they came from, how they arrived at the Museum.
