All of the "actresses," except the woman playing Esther, are garbed in their keswa el-kbira, the so-called Grand Costume first worn during the henna ceremony that precedes marriage, and later on festivals like Purim, and at other celebratory occasions. Two women (in the foreground) wear the most common design with concentric circles rising on their skirts. The other embroidered skirt patterns are unusual. The women at right wear the pearl-encrusted headdresses popular in Tangier.
