| When she was eighteen, Nan Goldin began creating works depicting her own particular subculture of drugs and sexual transgressions. This culminated in her slide show set to music entitled The Ballad of Sexual Dependency that toured clubs, museums, and galleries in the early 1980s and was published in 1986. In the photograph seen here, taken at Sheridan Square during the Halloween parade in Greenwich Village, Goldin pictures the flamboyantly glamorous Misty, while the smiling New York police officer looks on. |
