$title='Centennial Campaign';
$content='Almost a century ago, Mayer Sulzberger\'s donation of 26 Jewish ceremonial objects to The Jewish Theological Seminary established what we know
today as The Jewish Museum. Now a major cultural institution for New York City
and the world, The Jewish Museum is an art museum that has become a touchstone
of identity for Jewish people and a source of knowledge and inspiration for
those of all cultural backgrounds.
With the Museum\'s second century approaching in 2004, its vibrant and life-affirming mission is more vital than ever. The Jewish Museum has launched its Centennial Campaign, an ambitious
$75 million fundraising effort to build a sustaining level of endowment
and to support new growth initiatives. The Centennial Campaign focuses on the Museum\'s five most important areas
of activity - Exhibitions, Curatorial and Collections, Education, Accessibility
and Outreach, and Facilities - to position the Museum for its second century
and enable it to reach the broadest possible audience in the future.
Since the effort begain in November 2000, Museum trustees and close friends have pledged $56 million, 75% of the $75 million goal. Robert J. Hurst, H. Axel Schupf and James A. Stern serve as co-chairs of the Campaign Executive Committee.
We invite you to make an important investment in this community asset that
means so much to so many, and to help preserve it for generations to come. With
your help, the Centennial Campaign will be a great celebration of The Jewish
Museum\'s future.
