SCREENING
The Gertrude and David Fogelson Program
Frida, Naturaleza Viva
Directed by Paul Leduc
(Mexico, 1985, 108 min., 16mm, Spanish with English subtitles)
In dream-like and lyrical fragments of her own memories, we see the extraordinary life and death of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Critic Jonathan Rosenbaum comments that in this "meditative, mainly visual film... the striking, rich colors do full justice to Kahlo\'s palette" (The Chicago Reader).
Introduction and post-screening discussion with Margarita De la Vega-Hurtado, Executive Director of International Film Seminars. De la Vega-Hurtado has taught and written about Latin American studies, film and video, and has curated film festivals and programs in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
This program was endowed by gifts in honor of Gertrude and David Fogelson.
