Painter of the Lost Ark: James Tissot\'s Biblical Art

Nancy Rose Marshall, Assistant Professor of art history, University of Wisconsin, and curator of the major survey exhibition of Tissot\'s work of recent years, James Tissot: Victorian Life/Modern Love at the Yale Center for British Art in 1999.

Introduced by Norman L. Kleeblatt, Susan and Elihu Rose Curator of Fine Arts, The Jewish Museum.

The Library celebrates its long association with The Jewish Museum, where Joy Ungerleider served as director. Marshall\'s slide lecture revisits the "biblical" gouaches that were the main achievement of the final years of the Paris and London society painter James (Jacques Joseph) Tissot.
