LECTURE
The Mildred and George Weissman Program
New Perspectives on Frida Kahlo
Dr. Gannit Ankori and Professor Edward Sullivan present new perspectives on
the artist in conjunction with Frida Kahlo\'s Intimate Family Picture.
Gannit Ankori is author of Imaging Her Selves: Frida Kahlo\'s Poetics of Identity and Fragmentation (2002) and guest curator of Frida Kahlo. Both the book and the exhibition offer new perspectives on Kahlo\'s art, presenting new interpretations of the complex meaning and significance of the artist\'s portrayals of self. Dr. Ankori is a lecturer at the department of Art History at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Edward J. Sullivan, professor of art history at New York University, is the author of over 25 books and exhibition catalogues on the art of modern Latin America. He most recently served as chief curator of Brazil: Body & Soul (Guggenheim Museum) and is currently the holder of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
The Mildred and George Weissman Program has been endowed by Paul, Ellen and Dan Weissman in honor of their parents.
