The Jews of Cuba
November 4 - 13, 2003 and January 13 - 22, 2004, SOLD OUT
New Program Added!
April 27 - May 6, 2004
Please join us on an exciting and educational trip to Cuba. During these visits,
we will meet with leaders of the Jewish community, learn about Jewish life on
the island, attend services at a fascinating Synagogue in Old Havana and have
the opportunity to see other sites of interest and Museums. In between arrival
and departure from Havana, we will travel to Santa Clara, today home to but
a handful of Jewish families, and Trinidad, one of Cuba’s jeweled cities
and almost unchanged since colonial times. Along the way, we will visit Cienfuegos,
situated on the Caribbean Sea and considered by many to be a “living Museum.”
The Scholar-in-Residence for the November trip is Enrique Levy, M.S. Mr. Levy, who has lectured extensively on Cuban Jewish culture and history, was born in Cuba and educated there through High School, coming to the U.S. in 1956. Dr. Jane Gerber, Ph.D., Professor of Jewish History and Director of the Institute for Sepahrdic Studies at the Graduate School of the City University of New York, will be the Scholar-in-Residence for the January trip. Dr. Gerber is the author and editor of five books, including The Jews of Spain, which won the National Jewish Book Award in 1993.
The program cost of $3650 per person (based on double occupancy) includes round
trip airfares from Miami to Havana, nine nights accommodations at first
class hotels, full breakfast daily and dinner on seven evenings, all lectures
and presentations, transfer by coach to and from airports in Havana, and Cuban
visa for American nationals. Airport taxes are not included ($50 in Miami and
$25 in Havana) and will be collected by airport authorities. Single supplement
is available at $350.
Interest in this trip is very high and space is limited so we urge you to reserve your place quickly!
